The Divemaster certification is the entry point to the professional side of diving — the first PADI leadership rating, and the prerequisite for both the Assistant Instructor and Open Water Scuba Instructor certifications. If you're serious about turning diving into a career, this is where that path begins.
What the Course Covers
Working directly alongside IDC's PADI instructors over 9 days, you'll develop the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities required to supervise dive activities and assist with student divers in a professional capacity. Training covers dive theory, underwater management, skill development, and a series of practical applications that mirror real working conditions on a dive boat.
The knowledge development portion is completed through PADI eLearning before you arrive — interactive presentations, videos, and quizzes you work through at your own pace. On-site training covers pool sessions, open water dives, and the practical segments of the program.
Prerequisites
To enroll you must be at least 18 years old and hold a current Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver certification (or equivalent from another agency), current EFR Primary and Secondary Care certification within the last two years, a minimum of 40 logged dives at the start of the program (60 required by completion), and a physician-signed medical clearance confirming your fitness to dive.

How the Course Works
Complete the PADI eLearning component prior to arrival. Once finished, contact IDC directly to schedule your on-site training, discuss equipment and materials requirements, and confirm total course costs. The 9-day on-site portion is arranged from there.
Note: A separate application fee payable directly to PADI is required upon successful course completion. This is not included in the IDC course price.
